Alan Birch is widely known for his portrayal of David Tristram’s creation Inspector Drake, a role that he has made his own in sell-out theatre tours and on the big screen in two feature films. Alan is also a writer, producer and director.
His short films ‘End of the Road’ and ‘The Folly’ have drawn acclaim from audiences.
In 2019 he returned to the role of Inspector Drake in a highly successful revival tour.
Alan gained his Equity card after three years with professional touring theatre OPUS.
Since 2016 Alan has played the role of ‘The Librarian’ in two plays based on A.G. Smith’s ghost stories. He has also performed bespoke Ghost Walks which have drawn packed crowds.
A.G. Smith has written articles for Inside Times, The Bookseller and The Financial Times.
His novels have drawn praise from the likes of Anthony Horowitz and Ian Thornton and he has appeared on C4’s Secret Millionaire and BBC Radio 4’s PM.
